Sri V N Ramachandran is the founder of Premier Mills Group.

Premier Mills was incorporated in 1945. He set up the premier group’s first spinning mill, manufacturing cotton yarn. In 1949, SPG Production started manufacturing cotton yarn with 6,000 spindles for domestic consumption.

The composite mill Premier Spg and Wvg with spinning, weaving and processing under one roof started in the early 80’s. It was inaugurated by the then President of India, President Neelam Sanjiva Reddy. In the mid-1980s, Prima Products(Prima) began manufacturing, and soon after, Coimbatore Polytex(CPT) started operations in 1992.





We currently operate with over 160,000 spindles and 3000 Rotors.

We have been a well-run company since inception and continue to have one of the best reputations in the textile industry. We have enjoyed sustained success for over seven decades.

  • 1.5 million metres of greige
  • Processed fabrics of 2 million metres per month
  • Rotary printing of 0.9 Million metres per month
  • Digital printing of 0.1 Million metres per month
  • Yarn dyeing capacity of 60 tons per month
